2016-11-16 23:25

AFC Tubize took on KSV Roeselare in their first game of the second half of the season. All points and standings were reset from this point and a win would give them new hope for the remainder of the season.

They came out with a new formation of 4-4-2 with Thibalt Rausin starting in goal for the second game running. From the right, Emeric Dudouit, Quentin Laurent, Salomon Nirisarike and Alan Pires formed the defensive line. Yohan Betsch and Ibrahima Ba were the two central midfielders with Simon Zenke and Sega Keita the two wingers. Kevin Lefaix and Mamadou Diallo started up top together.

The match started off intensely, with AFC Tubize showing their intent of playing hard. They ended the match with 9 bookings, 2 of which lead to Emeric Dudouit’s sending off. Despite the strong start, KSV showed why they won the first half of the season with good attacking plays that forced Thibalt Rausin to make a couple of good saves. However, it was AFC Tubize who took the lead in the 25th minute. Alan Pires crossed in a ball from a free kick and Mamadou Diallo nodded the ball over his head, which found Kevin Lefaix as he pulled off a remarkable scissors kick to take the lead.

There wasn’t much action until the 59th minute when KSV’s Thiebaut Van Acker scored off a corner with a fierce shot into the roof of the net. Things turned worse when Emeric Dudouit was sent off 3 minutes later with his second booking of the night. Being a man up, KSV pushed forward for the winning goal and AFC Tubize had to rely on Thibalt Rausin to keep them in the match. Mario Babic came on for goal scorer Kevin Lefaix in the 68th minute and with the change, AFC Tubize changed to a 4-3-2 formation due to the sending off. Mario Babic looked in good form as he came on, getting into pockets of space and finding his teammates with the right balls. In the 86th minute, Selim Amallah came on for Simon Zenke to bring on some fresh legs for the tired side.

Despite KSV pushing forward the whole second half, it was AFC Tubize with the final chance to win the match. Mario Babic launched a counter attack and dribbled past two defenders down the left side of the pitch and played a perfect through ball for Alan Pires, who made a brilliant run from the defense. The goalkeeper came out to meet him but Alan Pires chipped the ball over him with great composure, only for the last defender to clear it before Selim Amallah could reach the ball. The match would end 1-1 after the following corner kick.

With only Lierse SK getting a win on Matchday 15, 6 teams are currently tied with 1 point, leaving the second half of the season wide open to start. AFC Tubize will take on league leaders Lierse SK at home on November 21st, at 12:30 PM(LT), hoping for a win in order to make a push for a promotion playoff spot.
